About Sabine

As a creative engineer I love to combine art with technology. Photography provides that ideal combination to me. I started photographing in 2005 and soon became a part-time event and commercial photographer during my time at Delft University of Technology, where I graduated in 2008 on satellite imagery. In that period I also got a special interest in various image editing techniques and High Dynamic Range (HDR) photography — tools and techniques that I use to fully capture the beauty of a place. Over the past 20 years I have gained experience in many fields of photography, but my true passion has remained the same: capturing the emotion of places worth sharing.

Beyond photography
Walking and hiking
Taking long walks in the woods is a daily joy. When travelling I enjoy making day hikes in the mountains, or simply strolling many kilometres through a charming city. With my dog Alex by my side, I keep exploring the world on foot every day.
Maps
With my background in geographic data and satellite imagery, I have a special interest in every type of map. And I put them to good use during my roadtrips!
Climbing
In 2017, I discovered sport climbing. Climbing has brought me to quite a few special viewpoints in Europe and I have even had the chance to shoot a wedding while climbing! I will also never forget the night out in a portaledge, sleeping on a vertical wall... the coolest place I have ever slept.
European wines
After completing several courses on the art of wine, I have gained a special interest in European wines and winemaking, and I like to visit local wineries. Moldova is Europe's most intriguing wine country, where you can even drive (underground!) between the wine barrels.
Daily work
In daily life, I am an independent technical communication consultant and visual designer for companies in the geographic data industry and aerospace domain. Read more about my company on www.knalblauw.nl (in Dutch).
